Return Rules
Return rules allow you to configure smart conditions to define what products and for how long they may be eligible for returns. Let’s take a closer look at the specific provisions available here:
This rule allows you to define the number of days after order fulfillment during which a product is eligible for return. The return window for a product begins when the order is fulfilled.
So let’s say you’ve configured a Return window of 30 days. If the product is eligible for returns, a shopper would be able to initiate a return request any time during the 30 days after order fulfillment. An attempt to initiate a return for the product on day 31 would display a message indicating that the product is no longer eligible for return.
This rule allows you to define what products may be ineligible for return. You may set this up by simply specifying the product tags as set up in your store to identify these products.
For example, discounted products may be easily set up as non-returnable items by simply including the Product tag used to identify them in your store. An attempt to initiate a return for such products would display a message indicating that the product is not eligible for return.
Custom rules allow you to define return eligibility criteria of certain items that require a return flow unique from your default return rules. These are the conditions and outcomes you can use to create custom return rules.
Note: You can create as many rules as you want. Every return rule can only have one condition and one associated outcome.
Conditions: These are the conditions your rule will be based on:
Product ID/SKU - This lets you enter or upload the product ID/SKU of items for which unique eligibility criteria would apply
Product tag - This lets you enter or upload the product tag of the items for which unique eligibility criteria would apply
Country/Region - This lets to configure which country/region requires a different return flow
Order Value - This lets you configure return requests with order value less than, equal to, or more than a certain amount that requires a different return flow
Outcomes: Using outcomes, you can define the resulting action for the conditions configured:
Return method - This lets to select which return method is eligible for the defined condition
Return window - This lets you define the custom return window for the defined condition
Image upload This lets you define whether image upload is mandatory or not for the specific return condition
Cost of return - This lets you define if you want to offer a free return or charge a fee for the specific return condition
Return label - This lets you define if a return label should be generrated or not for the specific return condition
Let's create a sample custom rule:
Rule - A charge of $35 would be applied for returns with an order value of over $100. Here's how you can create this return rule
- Select add a rule
- Enter a title for your rule. Let's call this $100 returns
- Select your condition - In this scenario you can select "Order value"
- You can choose between equal to, more than or less than and enter the respective amount. In this scenario we can select "more than" and enter "$100"
- Select the associated outcome - In this scenario, we will select "Cost of return" and enter $35 on the input field.
- Finally, select save
Once this rule is saved, any return request that has an order value over $100 will also be notified of the applicable return cost of $35.
